Sinead O'Connor performs War

At the end of the song, O'Connor holds up a photo of then-Pope John Paul II while singing the lyric "in the victory of good over evil." She then tears up the photo and says "fight the real enemy!" In dress rehearsal, she did the same performance, but held up a photo of a starving child. Blindsided by the on-air switch, director Dave Wilson did not activate the applause signs after the performance, leading to silence while O'Connor blew out candles on a nearby table, before the show went to commercial.
