After not appearing in the last episode’s opening montage, the 25th anniversary SNL logo and Jimmy Fallon and Chris Kattan's season 25 opening montage photos are back. A noteworthy Don Pardo blooper, in which he accidentally announces the SNL Band as “Musical guest R.E.M.”. Then when R.E.M.’s picture shows up afterwards, Pardo pauses silently when realizing his mistake and then awkwardly just says “R.E.M.”. Then when Danny DeVito’s picture shows up afterwards, Pardo again pauses silently and then says “Your host Danny DeVito”, without preceding “your host” with the usual “and”. SNL would later fix all of these mistakes in reruns.
